JULIE DAWN STEINES (FREYERMUTH
From the time I was a child, I dreamed of writing a children’s book with my mother as the illustrator.
In 2010, over tea and scones in a Boston coffee shop, my dream began to take shape. My mother & I scribbled our thoughts on a napkin – and so began our 3 year journey to write, illustrate and publish our first picture book. We decided to self-publish in order to maintain creative control over our work.
In November 2013, we published Norbert: What Can Little Me Do? and began to spread Norbert’s important message across the globe. We have received amazing reviews, international awards and perhaps most special of all, have seen thousands of children smile from our picture book.
In January 2014, I took a leap of faith and quit my job of over 5 years to pursue writing, publishing & speaking full-time. I put every penny I had into this business.
Today I give author talks in schools, libraries and other organizations with my mother and Norbert. I consider this a tremendous honor and privilege. Norbert and I continue to volunteer as a registered Pet Partners® team at a variety of places. We donate books, our time and money whenever possible because giving is one of our company's core values.
I am humbled to work with my mother, whom I consider to be a creative genius.
Thank you for your interest in our work.
